报告摘要:The surface states of a symmetry-protected topological (SPT) phase can exhibit a rich variety of possibilities. In this talk, I will show how multilayer-stacked cluster Mott insulating systems, combined with strong surface correlations, provide an ideal platform to realize this potential. Using first-principles calculations and parton mean-field theory, we propose a quantum spin liquid with a spinon Fermi surface on the surface of multilayer 1T‑TaS₂, and, more remarkably, a chiral Abelian topological order on the surface of Nb₃X₈ (X = Br, Cl). We further suggest that angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) can detect the spinon Fermi surface and the fractionalization of chiral Abelian topological order, respectively. The connection to real materials and recent experiments is discussed in detail.
